Mary Mae Cash

Mary Mae Cash, age 81, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at Somerwoods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

Mary was born June 29, 1943 to the late Welba and Nannie (Pettyjohn) Ware in Somerset, Kentucky. She found joy in the simplest of pleasures, especially through her love of yard sales and flea markets where she delighted in finding hidden treasures. Mary cherished the tranquility and adventure that fishing brought to her life. Her passion for gospel music and preaching was a true testament to her faith, and she found solace and inspiration in the harmonious melodies and heartfelt sermons.

Mary married the love of her life, James Walter Cash on October 20, 1961. They were married for 51 years until his passing in 2013.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark Cash and Daniel Cash, both of Eubank, KY; a grandson, Joseph Cash, of Eubank, KY; and a sister, Edith Cash, of Somerset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Walter Cash; one son, Johnny Cash; and two brothers, David Ware and Bobby Ware.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Stevens officiating.

Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until time for services at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
