Norman Floyd Salyers

Norman Floyd Salyers, 95, of Somerset, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born in Casey County on May 5, 1924; son of the late Luther & Mary Jane (Floyd) Salyers. Norman was a loyal member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved his church family. He was a farmer and finish carpenter. He loved to garden into his 90's.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine (Stephens) Salyers, to whom he was married on July 28, 1951; their children, Kathy & (Maurice) Stringer of Somerset, Donna & (Reed) Watson of Science Hill, and David Salyers of Fort Lee, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Bryan & (Tammie) Stringer of Somerset, Stephanie & (Paul) Smith of Science Hill, Jared & (Christy) Kemper of Science Hill, and Krista & (Brent) Singleton of Somerset; ten great-grandchildren, Blake, Braeden, & Bailey Stringer, Lucas & Lauren Smith, Jase & Kinley Kemper, and Cora, Dakota, & Noah Singelton; three sisters, Martha & (Hubert) Robertson of Kings Mountain, Liz & (Harold) Carrier of Stanford, and Bertha Mae Fight of Wheelersburg, Ohio; one brother, Jesse D & (Geraldine) Salyers of Hustonville; brother & sister-in-law, Tom Godbey and Ada Faye Salyers, both of Casey County; numerous nieces, nephews, and his wife's family that he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty & (John) Meeks, Clytha Godbey, Estie & (Dickie) Elliot, and Myrtle Salyers; brothers, John T & (Norma) Salyers, Clifford Salyers, Vernon Salyers, and Herman Salyers (an infant).

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Stephens and Bro. Corey Meggs officiating.

Burial will be in the Pilot Cemetery in Eubank.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
